Abstract

The use of digital media for business promotion has become essential for small business owners, especially in rural areas with local economic potential. Business owners in Kampung Bahagia, Perlis, Malaysia, still minimally utilize digital promotional design to attract consumer attention and enhance product marketing. This community service activity aimed to improve the skills of business owners in creating digital promotional designs using the Canva application. The implementation method included initial observation, material preparation, material delivery, Canva demonstration, hands-on design practice, evaluation of design outcomes, and follow-up mentoring. The activity was conducted participatively so that business owners could directly try and produce designs according to their business needs. Results show a significant improvement in the skills and understanding of business owners. The level of understanding across various indicators increased from 30–45 percent before training to 74–84 percent after training. Business owners were able to create neat, informative, and ready-to-use promotional designs for social media. In addition to enhancing technical skills, the activity fostered attitude changes, increased self-confidence, and raised awareness of the importance of digital promotion for business development. The program also opens opportunities for further development, including product photography training, social media content management, and formation of digital learning groups. Consequently, this community service successfully provides economic, social, and digital literacy benefits for business owners in Kampung Bahagia.
