Penerapan Media Pembelajaran Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak Berbasis IoT di SMK Negeri 9 Medan

This community service activity was designed to introduce the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) as a contextual learning medium for students of Software Engineering (RPL) at SMK Negeri 9 Medan. Initial analysis identified limitations in the availability of practical tools that support applied technology learning. To address this issue, the implementing team developed two sensor-based prototypes as practical training aids. The activity was carried out using a project-based learning approach, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in designing and programming microcontroller-based devices. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in students’ understanding of basic IoT concepts and hardware programming skills. This activity contributed to strengthening project-based learning methods that are adaptive to technological developments in vocational school environments.
